Trauma

Trauma can occur in the body very easily and does not need to be a large amount of force to be damaging. It all depends on what tissue is traumatized and how soon the treatment is applied.

For example a twisted ankle. Most ankle sprains are inversion sprains, where the ankle rolls over the outside of the foot. Depending on how badly the supporting tissues of the ankle and lower leg are damaged this injury could have long term discomfort, strength and stability issues.

Active Release techniques examines all tissues that are damaged by spraining the ankle and rapidly helps to rebuild proper functioning tissue. This along with proper strength and balance rehab exercises gives the person the highest opportunity to regain most if not all the function of the ankle.

As the above example demonstrates Active Release helps to diagnose the breadth of the damage to all tissues not just the painful ones as well as bring attention to the importance of restore proper motion to the area as soon as possible.
