Active Release for the Upper Back

Active Release for the upper back is very effective due to the specificity of the treatment.  The upper back (thoracic spine) is made up of many soft tissues that stretch from the low back (lumbar spine) up to the neck (cervical spine).  There are also many tissues that are very small and travel a very short distance like the ones that connect one rib to another.

The specificity of ART allows the doctor to find the exact tissue that is causing the problem.    Then the doctor can treat that tissue and restore the proper function.

Common symptoms in this area would be “trigger points” or “muscle knots”, stabbing pain and difficultly rotating the rib cage.
