Treatment Options

Preston Health Collective has been providing premium health services since 2006. Drs. Sarah Parmenter and Dan Ricetto created this health care centre with the idea that the citizens of Ottawa and surrounding area deserve the highest level of natural health Care. Many clients enter our health centre at different points in their life. We have created a number of different treatment options to support those needs.

Acute pain: This is when you have just had an injury in the last 24 to 48 hours. It is an ideal time to seek ART .  The longer treatment is delayed the larger amount of scar tissue/adhesion will develop. Increased scar tissue/adhesion leads to longer recovery times.

Chronic Pain: This is an injury when the symptoms have persisted longer than a couple of days. Although it is not uncommon for clients to express that they have been suffering for years with the same discomfort. Many times these clients have sought many different forms of care with little success. We have found that by looking at the complete injury pattern and specific painful motions we have a high rate of success clearing up chronic pain issues.

Pre-surgery: This is an excellent time to be evaluated as many clients have avoided using surgical intervention by getting specific ART care for their injury. Also many clients are looking for a second or third opinion before undergoing surgery. An evaluation by a Certified Active Release Provider is a great way to better understand the breadth of the injury and also the need/opportunity for care post surgery if they decide to proceed.

Post-Surgery (Rehabilitation): Once surgical repair is completed we have many different opportunities to assist our clients in recovery and rehabilitation of the injury. The main issue post surgery, is that there tends to be a fair bit of rest or inactivity. Even though this is necessary for the surgical site to heal, it is quite restricting to the rest of the body that is accustomed to regular movement and exercise. ART is a great way to continue to stretch and stimulate increased movement post surgery without damaging the newly repaired tissue.

Athletic Training: This type of treatment is where ART has gained its greatest popularity. By working with the specific muscles necessary to compete in each sport ART enhances all aspects of training and competition. It also enhances the athlete’s confidence and knowledge of how their body is functioning so they can give it their all on the day of competition.

Maintenance (Wellness):
This is an type of treatment that has provided great relief for many people who work at tasks that require repetitive motions. Many repetitive stress injuries or strains like carpal tunnel can be relieved by using Active Release Techniques.
